Today I’m supposed to be heading out to Bakersfield and points south.  It’s really hard to leave: I still love San Francisco.  Went down to Weird Stuff Warehouse yesterday, which was fun.  Also got to hang out a bit with a couple of friends.

So, after waking up and putting the finishing touches on the LJ post, we headed out on US-191, south towards Yellowstone. We actually made it all the way to Yellowstone National Park, and the village of West Yellowstone. So, Chibi and I went out to Bozeman with some friends from work. Yesterday, we hung around the Bridger Bowl ski resort, ate a really expensive cheeseburger (that was inferior, in every possible way, to a McDonald's $1 special), and hung out with the guys from work for a bit ( Read more... )

So.. this culinary driving note: the Carl's Jr. in Coalinga was recently
remodelled. If this is Carl's new look, I like it. Much more subdued,
color wise, than the last model store (which always struck me as "Ronald
McDonald Throws Up").

It'll probably be 2010 until we see any like it in Portland.

Oh, and I like the reworked BBQ chicken

Arrived, at the "2/3rds way point": Lodi. This Flying J is becoming one of the regular stops for me.. it has a WiFi hot spot (which is not cheap, but hey) and fairly decent food ( Read more... )
